I probably knew who he was on sight, but the name is not ringing a bell -- at the moment. I certainly know the story you refer to, however.
THANKS!

Compound Where else have I seen that picture it is so familiar. Not on a calendar wasn't around in those days CC
The thought I recall -- legit or not -- was the woman descending into the water was supposedly Damaris; the man baptized, Dionysius; the baptizer, the Apostle Paul.
The image very well could have been used in any one, or several, of the publications. I believe the calendar is circa '70/'71, remembering back to when I worked in the hand bindery.
Damaris was a convert of Paul; the hill in the background is Mars Hill.
up until i left recently i was participating in the cart work.
in the location where we used to set up near our local mall we never had one person stop and take literature or stop and chat - other than fellow brothers.
i thought maybe it was just a bad location or something.
When out in the ministry, decades ago, and we had no apparent success, we comforted ourselves with "At least we got to say Jehovah's name!"
We just knew that someday those uncooperative householders would finally have that "Aha!" moment. Of course, by then it was too late.

Lostandfound:
Did you come across Alan Boyle, in the Art department?
I was in Brokklyn, late '60s/early '70s and was not in the Art Dept., per se, although I applied. The name, Alan Boyle, is not familiar to me, but it never hurts to ask!
THANKS!

Thanks, Phizzy and kpop, for your replies. I can relate.
I have the actual calendar pictures of both the above and that of the Christians fleeing Jerusalem. If memory serves, the artist was Sister Mann, and the original oils were on display at Brooklyn Bethel.
My job was quality control. Often, the images were "off register," i.e., the three colors and black were misaligned and the picture was distorted.
Those were tossed . . .

the june 2017 watchtower tells the experience of a bible student who was homeless and unkempt, but improved his appearance after being preached to.. peter began to change.
he bathed, neatlytrimmed his beard, and put on the betterclothes that don offered him.
peter continued to maintain a clean appearance.. so here we see that with a neatly trimmed beard the watchtower's writers view him as having "a clean appearance".
Hard to believe, but the blackguard in the previous post was asked to comment at meetings, looking just as you see him. And comment he did. Well, of course, he was nattily attired in requisite suit and cravat.

my girlfriend and i were walking along a seaside boulevard and lo and behold!
2 jws were standing by the pathway.
they made eye contact and said hello.
Maybe it was youth and enthusiasm on our side back in the '60s. We tore up the streets in town and the roads in the rurals with our full days in service. And we were thin and healthy.
I can't see the benefits -- physical or spiritual -- to sitting all day and not honing your craft. Sure, the beliefs have always been crazy, but, back then, there was some measure of dignity and seriousness to the message. We were kids, but THE TRUTH was our everything.
What a difference five decades makes.
